Large, handmade copper and brass wall light sculpture in the shape of a sailing ship by Belgian artist Daniel Dhaeseleer.
The piece is signed at the front. Two screw bulb light fittings are worked into the frame, creating a wonderful shadow effect when lit.
Vintage,midmod, Hollywood Regency, nautical in style. Dhaeseleer (1947- ) studied at the Academy of Arts and started as a graphic artist. He later evolved to bas-relief sculptures and three-dimensional art. He masters different techniques but mostly specializes in working with various types of metals. His work has been showcased at several exhibitions in Belgium and abroad.
Excellent vintage condition. Only light wear consistent with age and use.
